Restorative practices
If you follow me on social media you will often hear me speak about restorative practices. So what are restorative practices and why are they so crucial to our wellbeing? Restorative practices are things that bring you as an individual a sense of calm.
When we are nourishing our nervous systems by embracing restorative practices we are helping to switch off fight or flight thus allowing the body space to breathe and rebalance. When fight or flight is switched off it is far easier for the female body to regulate hormones.
If you are constantly living in survival mode (fight or flight) your body is literally focusing on survival there is no room for hormone harmony. This my friends is why any great hormone balancing protocol should be more than just a pill and dietary advice! When you work with me I delve deep into helping you remember the things that set your soul on fire as well as the things that bring you peace, calm and joy.
My protocol is heavy on helping you to find ways to create moments of calm throughout your busy day. As a mum of two, a wife, a daughter, a friend a business partner and a naturopath it is fair to say my hands are full so it is vitally important that I create space and rituals to support my nervous system and thus aid optimal hormone function. That’s where restorative practices come into play.
My personal favourite restorative practices are walking barefoot on the beach, drinking a cup of tea in the sun, reading a great book, plunging into the ocean, taking an Epsom salts bath, creating a nourishing meal, dropping into child’s pose and breathing, watching the sunrise, being in nature, around water, around animals, taking an early night is also a firm favourite. You might love dancing or singing or gardening or writing or yoga, there is no right or wrong when it comes to restorative practices, the main thing is to find yours and to schedule them into your day.
Modern life has a tendency to rob our peace, by embracing restorative practices you take back your power. We get so caught up in being busy that we forget to stop and smell the roses. It makes such a difference when we make a conscious effort to be still and simply breathe. Embrace your restorative practices today.
